Yesterday, DAUK Editor Dr Neil Tiwari was interviewed alongside Dr Nnaemeka Chidumije on LBC. Dr Tiwari said that the fact that visa caps had been defended as in the national interest was “fallacy”. This comes after DAUK’s letter to Home Secretary Sajid Javid was published in The Independent, warning of “severe understaffing” being exacerbated by visa caps.
The Doctors’ Association UK are running the campaign Scrap the Cap, to lobby the government to exempt doctors coming to work in the NHS from caps which are seeing them denied visas to take up posts in the NHS. DAUK’s petition to Theresa May today reached 7000 signatures.
