Visa caps for doctors will not be reintroduced says Matt Hancock following DAUK letter to the Home Office

Two weeks ago we were concerned that doctors’ exemption from the visa cap could face abrupt reversal from the visa cap following correspondence between the Home Secretary  and the Migration Advisory Committee.

DAUK wrote to the Home Secretary highlighting the ’destructive effect’ on the NHS that a reinstatement of the cap could have.

We are pleased to announce that this week Matt Hancock gave assurances that the cap will NOT be reversed.

We will continue lobbying to ensure the hard fought for exemption of doctors from the cap remains in place. We have over 11,000 vacancies on the frontline and are all dealing with monumental rota gaps. We rely on our overseas colleagues who are very welcome here.
