Health and Social Care Committee Announces Inquiry

The Health and Social Care Committee will be holding an evidence session to consider the implications for patient safety of the application of the law on gross negligence manslaughter, and professional regulation in such cases on 16th October 2018.

Unfortunately, despite The Doctors’ Association urging the Committee to hear from grassroots doctors, only a few select individuals have been invited to give oral evidence, and no written evidence has been invited.

We are writing to Dr Sarah Wollaston in the strongest terms to protest this omission.

If your MP is on the Health and Social Care Committee (listed below), please write to them and urge them to reconsider and widen the scope of their inquiry.

  • Sarah Wollaston, Totnes

  • Luciana Berger, Liverpool Wavertree

  • Ben Bradshaw, Exeter

  • Lisa Cameron, East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow

  • Rosie Cooper, West Lancashire

  • Diana Johnson, Kingston Upon Hull North

  • Johnny Mercer, Plymouth Moor View

  • Andrew Selous, South West Bedfordshire

  • Derek Thomas, St Ives

  • Martin Vickers, Cleethorpes

  • Paul Williams, Stockton South
