IHPA unearths “multi-million-pound tax dodge” by NHS trusts

The Doctors’ Association UK are shocked to hear the media reports today which reveal that NHS bosses may be implicated in a “multi-million-pound tax dodge whilst leaving zero-hours NHS workers in financial ruin”. We support the tireless work of the Independent Health Professionals Association (IHPA) in unearthing this information. Doctors who undertake locum work form a vital part of the NHS workforce, especially at times of unprecedented pressure. The alleged practices of umbrella firms and NHS trusts causing doctors to be taxed more whilst simultaneously avoiding their own tax liabilities, and in some cases off-loading them onto the worker must be fully investigated and redressed.
