Dr Yaso Browne for The Sunday Times: we must advocate for the homeless during COVID-19 pandemic

As a GP specialising in care for some of the UK’s 320,000 homeless people, I know they face particular problems in this situation. Many have co-morbidities that would make them susceptible to a worse outcome. Even more are hard to reach with health messages, either lacking social media or illiterate or non-English-speaking.

This is a group that does not value itself enough to advocate for its own health. Someone needs to. It would be unfeeling folly to overlook the homeless in our midst.
