DAUK’s Dr Deanna Evans told i: “We cannot prepare in any special way for winter pressures because we are working with just about the required number of staff all year…. once someone takes leave or gets ill…that is it.
“The pressure on those remaining in the Surgery is immense.”
Dr Lizzie Toberty, DAUK’s GP lead, said: “We are seeing the gradual collapse of general practice right in front of us.
“The reason for that is a lack of funding and investment over the last 10 years.
“It’s important to stress at this point in time for lots of GPs out there this job is not feeling doable, we are seeing high levels of burn-out.”
