TED talk: Dr Samantha Batt-Rawden Co-Founder of DAUK reveals how tough things are for frontline doctors
How can we maintain our doctors empathy? In her TED talk Sammy reframes the burnout debate and explains that doctors are suffering from moral injury, the psychological harm that occurs when doctors cannot give patients the care they deserve due to system pressures. Sammy also speaks openly and honestly about her experience of being on the other side on the NHS as an A&E and ICU registrar when her son was born at 27 weeks and spent 3 months in intensive care. Determined to fight for the NHS Sammy founded The Doctors’ Association UK during her maternity leave. Watch her talk here.
