The Doctors’ Association UK has compiled stories from 602 frontline doctors which expose a startling culture of bullying and overwork in the NHS. During the worst winter crisis on record DAUK has been inundated with stories from doctors, yet again, all attesting that conditions on the frontline have worsened, to the point they feel they have no option but to leave the NHS. With so little regard for doctors’ wellbeing it cannot come as a surprise that we have nearly 10,000 vacancies across the frontlines.
Dedicated to caring for the sick and vulnerable, junior doctors should expect to be supported and valued as they carry out their vital work. But hundreds have revealed they are subjected to bullying and harassment at overstretched hospitals that have been plunged into a staffing crisis. The Doctors’ Association UK has collated stories from over 600 doctors. The shocking report made the front page of the Daily Mirror.
The Doctors’ Association UK is concerned about the reported increase in bullying and harassment of NHS staff. This comes at a time where morale in the NHS is low as recruitment and retention of staff is becoming more difficult.
