Doctors have been telling DAUK, through our anonymous reporting app www.nhsppe.com, that many of them are being bullied and shamed into not speaking up on PPE. Read our response.
DAUK has been hearing from our members that many doctors have been forced to improvise their own PPE due to severe shortages. This includes those using snorkels and diving gear to protect themselves.
DAUK has been approached by a number of doctors who have been told not to speak out on social media or in the press regarding concerns on PPE.
Dr Rinesh Parmar talks to The Guardian this morning about the risk of doctors and nurses feeling forced to hang up their uniforms in the face of inadequate PPE.
Dr Rinesh Parmar, DAUK’s chair, said: “We’ve been hearing from doctors across the country that they’ve been sent different masks. This is extremely worrying for doctors, who have been tested on one type and receive another. Fit testing is time-consuming and only available in the day. Doctors have written about their fears of coming in for a nightshift and being presented with a mask that they have not been tested on.”
Julia Simons our Medical student representative speaks to The Guardian about her worries.
